Former Lawman Found Guilty Of Sex Crime

A former Pender County Sheriff's Office captain has to give up his badge after he was found guilty of a sex crime charge.

Mark Sloan was convicted of crimes against nature, but was found not guilty of soliciting a prostitute during his Thursday court appearance.

Officers stopped Sloan earlier this year for a traffic signal violation. According to police, a man was in the car with Sloan. Officials charged Sloan with soliciting prostitution and crimes against nature.

Sloan received a 10 day suspended sentence and must serve 18 months of supervised probation.

Crimes against nature ??? Wait a minute. I thought everyone was so happy now to support a man with a man. You legalize their marriage. So how can you convict them of a crime when you have already legalized this. This is stupid. Go to San Fran Cal. They do this in public and the rest of the public praises it. I know the problem. The good ol USA is becoming a liberal - do anything you think feels good country. With that being said. Maybe I will marry my horse. She sure is pretty.

The more attention that is brought to cops that are misbehaving or felony offenders, the more likely it is to help deal with the problem of police criminals. Keep covering such stories in detail with photos. There are far too many of these stories.

This is just North Carolina, a few bad cops making the good ones look bad. Seems like this is an everyday thing in the news for a while now.Cops being arrested for drugs, shooting people in their underware, stopping hispanics and stealing money from them, killing someone 35 years ago, what is going on

What Americans are you polling? I would have to say many people dislike firemen more than they dislike LEO's. I guess it is all a matter of opinion. However, I will tell you what I KNOW... Firemen are just as bad - if not worse - than the LEO you hear about. They lie, cheat, steal, commit crimes, abuse of power and the list goes on. And if you think the firemen or LEO's are bad.... surely stay away from the EMT/paramedics.

A liberal's worst nightmare. They have only three options here, all of which will torque them up to no end. 1. Support the LGBT community by supporting a police officer. 2. Support anti-gay laws. 3. Shut up. Man if I could only be a "fly on the wall" for that internal conversation.

Yesterday when I read this story, all the article said was: it was a prostitue. NOW - today - it's come to light (according to the article) it's "gay" issue! How disgusting!

The fact that he was convicted of "crimes against nature" is absolutely ridiculous! How is consenting sex between two same sex adults a crime? I could understand if he was convicted of solicitation or prostitution.

This is ridiculous. Same sex acts among consenting adults being labeled as "Crimes Against Nature" in convictions have been found to be unconstitutional (Lawrence v. Texas, 539 U.S. 558 (2003)). How is it that the NC legal system can still manage a conviction for same sex acts among consenting adults!!??
