Burlington Social Services Worker Pleads Guilty Of Fraud

A former Alamance County Department of Social Services employee has pleaded guilty to taking more than $4,000 in food stamps and government assistance fraudulently.

The Times-News of Burlington reported that 34-year-old Leslie S. Hundley of Burlington pleaded guilty Monday and agreed to repay the county.

Hundley was fired in August from her job processing social services claims. Prosecutors say she fraudulently obtained food stamps, public assistance and medical assistance. She was accused of omitting money paid to her in child support for her two children when she applied for assistance through DSS.

Prosecutors say the benefits were taken between 2009 and 2011.

Superior Court Judge Wayne Abernathy placed Hundley on supervised probation for one year. She also was ordered to pay court costs.
