Before a brief court hearing Monday, South African paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius prayed and wiped away tears.
Pistorius, who's known as the "Blade Runner" for the two prostheses he wears in running competitions is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
Detailed charges were presented outlining the prosecution's case of premeditated murder against Pistorius.
He has admitted shooting Steenkamp through a bathroom door at his home in February but says he was acting in self-defense against an intruder.
The shooting and his arrest made headlines around the world.
Pistorius prayed with his sister Aimee and brother Carl before the hearing.
Monday's hearing was on Steenkamp's birthday. She would have been 30 years old.
Steenkamp was shot in the head, the arm and the hip and died in Pistorius' residence.
A trial date was set for March 3, 2014.
