NEW INFO: Martin County Deputies: Child Abducted By Mom

Authorities are looking for a mother who is accused of taking her four-year daughter this past week.

Martin County deputies say Alivia Jackson was taken on Wednesday by her mother, Justine Jackson. Deputies say the mother took the child from a family member. They say custody had not yet been established, so on Friday a judge honored the father's request to get emergency sole custody of the child.

The little girl has brown hair, blue eyes, weighs 25 pounds and is 3 feet tall. She has a birthmark on the upper left side of her chest.

Deputies say the child is missing from Everetts and the two may still be in North Carolina, or possibly in the Pensacola, Florida or New Hampshire area. The mother is driving a 1999 dark green Ford Contour sedan.

The 24-year-old Jackson has brown hair, brown eyes, 5' tall and weighs 150 pounds.

At first, deputies say they obtained a felony warrant for parent child abduction against the woman. But now say they charges have been dropped and that this is a civil child custody issue.

Anyone with information on the child or mother should call the Martin County Sheriff's Office at 252-789-4500.
