Duplin County Man Killed In Weekend Shooting

A 21-year-old man is dead after a shooting at a community center early Sunday morning.

Duplin County Sheriff Blake Wallace says Nicholas Bennerman was shot at the Duff Creek Community Building outside of Teachey. The man died later at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Wallace says his deputies were there within minutes of the first call, which came in around 2:00 a.m. Sunday. The sheriff says the murder stemmed from an argument at a private party being held at the community center. He says there are multiple people of interest in the murder.

I think it's so sad that people are so judgmental. Someone has lost their life and all people can do is pass judgment. I'm not a bible thumper but a firm believer in judge not lest ye be judged. So to the family; my heart goes out to you in this time of heartache. Keep your heads held high and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions....

I have to say that I knew Nick personally and I can't believe it happened to him. People really need to stop using weapons and work things out. There is no reason in killing anyone. The Lord should be the only one able to take lives. I pray that they get the people who killed my friend. RIP NICK!! You will be missed!! Love you!!

Over and over and over; shooting after murder after shooting. I guess the day of reckoning is here for the honest men. I'm glad my husband has a CCW permit, and knows how to use it, since there is a new breed of animal on the loose. Guess 20 years of programs geared at helping those 'less fortunate' isn't working. All it has done is give them renewed strength to ravage and plunder. Here's our proof.
