Snow Hill Shooting Sends One To Hospital

The Greene County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Officials say the call came in at 10:35pm that a shooting happened during a break-in at 728 Highway 258 in Snow Hill, across from the WilcoHess station. Sheriff Lemmie Smith says 39-year-old Pedro Leodaro was shot and taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. No word on the extent of his injuries.

There are currently no suspects in the case.

Sheriff Smith says a woman and a 5-year-old child were also in the house at the time of the break-in and shooting. We will keep you updated on this story and we gather more details.

@Jim, I agree that Mr.Smith isn't the best sheriff in the world, but he IS Greene Counties Sheriff, I think he may deserve some respect for even stepping out of his office, which many sheriffs do not do.

I agree that that mobile home park REALLY needs to be cleaned up, but this acutally happened at the Hess over by the high school, not the one across from cemetery.

With the scum that walks from the "trailer park" to the Hess station at every hour of the day, I am surprise that every house around there isn't broke into. Look around Lemmie and clean up your towm.

According to the story, this is a mobile home across from the Hess on Hwy 258 N. There is not a trailer park there, but only this single mobile home. Thus, you are mistaken as to the location. Additionally, voice your complaints also to the Town of Snow Hill who just recently cut funding to the GCSD and instituted its own police department. While the trailer park you reference is not in the city limits, the Hess at Hwy 258 /58 is as well as much of the property in the direction of the trailer park!

as far as the town cutting funds to gcsd, my question is how many officers lost their jobs due to the cut? if they didnt lose any, then it appears to me that the gcsd should have more men in the county to patrol since they dont have to cover snow hill now?

anonymous, little testy huh? my question to you is how many men did gcsd loose when the cut went into affect? zero, nada, none! no loss=more county coverage. btw, your sheriff is the Chief law enforcement officer in the county, so in reality, "town limits or county" hes still responsible.

I think he should be denied medical treatment. He decided too break in where he didn't belong. He got what he deserved and now tax paying citizens are paying for his treatment. He is getting three hots and a cot with a tv and air condition and all the pain pills he wants, at our expense because he decided to break the law...please explain how that's right?
