I lost my first child, she was stillborn. When my next baby came along, I was terrified something else would happen. I slept with her on my chest for 2 months and she was in a cradle beside my bed with my hand on her chest until 6 months. I feel so badley for these parents and there loss but, I feel even worse for those heartless enough to judge them!

I know a couple who had this happen to them. It was tragic, and still haunts the mother 17 years later. I always put mine in a bassinet beside my bed for that very reason. What a terrible tragedy for the baby and parents. Prayers for them.

I'm having a hard time believing the baby would have blood on their face if it was suffocated from co-sleeping. There's more to it.

This has happened so many times. It is time for a law to be put in place that you are not allowed to do this. NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR NEW BORN BABIES. You are so exhausted from much less sleep then you are used to which could cause a person to fall ito a deeper sleep. This is never a good idea.

Better yet why not just turn the over to the govt. at birth to make sure they are safe. Enough with the laws.

I bought a co-sleeping bed because my son had gastric reflux so bad that he would choke. Slept with my hand on him so that if he threw up in his throat I would feel him hitching. Did the same with my daughter when she came along. My husband lost a child some 30 years ago to 'crib death', and she wasn't within arms reach of the bed. A law would only harm more babies than it would help, in MY opinion.

My prayers go out to this family, I can't even imagine what they are going through. I know a lot of people do this, I didn't because I was fearful that I would hurt my baby. Being a parent of a newborn is tough and exhausting and I remember a lot of nights thinking I would do anything for some sleep. I hope these parents are able to overcome the overwhelming guilt they must feel. I also hope that people are not cruel enough to get up here and preach from their soapbox. This is a tragedy.

This is so horrible! I know alot of people sleep with their baby in their arms, but some of us sleep harder than others--i slept with my two month old baby in my arms, till i woke up to him screaming--i had rolled over on his lower half, and his upper half was hanging off the bed! i was terrified to think of what mightve happened--when youre a new mom, youre sleep deprived anyways and might sleep really hard sometimes. God Bless these parents in this terrible situation, and may He put His loving arms around them. I am so sorry to hear this.
