Ankle Tracking Bracelet Leads To Three Robbery Arrests

Two men and a woman are in custody following the robbery of the Dollar General In Bridgeton and authorities say they were able to track down one of the suspects because he was on pre-trial release and was wearing an ankle monitoring device.

Deputies say Ciara Lewis of Pinetown, Andrew Elder of Cove City and Samuel Gaskins of Pinetown have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities say after tracking down Elder, who was wearing the ankle monitoring device, they were then able to catch the other two.

Elder and Gaskins' bond is set at $1 million. Authorities say Elder carried a sawed-off shotgun into the business, while Gaskins was armed with a silver revolver.

Sheriff Jerry Monette tells WITN the two men came into the business on Highway 17 North in Bridgeton around 2:30 p.m.

The sheriff says there were no injuries reported in the robbery.

Employees say the gunmen got away with about $200 in cash.

Bridgeton police say the robbers were both wearing masks.

According to records, Elder was on probation for possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and a motor vehicle violation. He has a prior record for possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon, and larceny of firearms.

Gaskins has a prior record for assault on a public official, DWI and driving with license revoked.

The trio went before a district court judge this morning and remain in jail.

Ankle tracking bracelet! That's it in "nut"shell. This makes all judges everywhere the biggest not so funny joke. If people did not want to get caught they would not commit the crime. I sure hope no one is thinking "drugs made them do it". They made themselves do it. I guess letting criminals go free keeps everyone in the court system's jobs more secure. Cause these "three stooges" will be in court again and maybe again and again in the future.

They should also be charged with attemped murder. Why else would they take guns. They intended to use them. They value no one's life inclding their own. If they do not care about themselves and set themselves up to go to prison then send them on. That is what they are asking for. "If" convicted they really don't have much of a future on the outside of bars. Their actions prove that they can not make it outside of prison. Sad to say but they will better off in prison.

I agree, it was only a matter of time before he was caught. The other two who were caught are just as stupid for letting him join their gang. Dumb-Dumber-and Dumbest!

The state needs to get some stimulus money to build more and bigger prisons so we can get these idiots off the street. Then send the warden and staff to see Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County Arizona for tips on handling these scumbags. They don't seem to have any fear of incarceration they way things are here in the east.

The system needs to start making examples out of these fools! And start with the dumbest ones first. WE seem to have more than our share here in Eastern NC. I wonder if the other 2 idiots knew he was being tracked?
