Greenville police are asking for the public's help in tracking down an armed convicted felon who ran from them last weekend.
Kentraye Barnes took off from officers Sunday afternoon after they found a .38 caliber revolver in his waistband.
Police say they got a call of an armed man in the area of West Third and Cadillac streets around 4:45 p.m. An officer spotted Barnes on Davis Street. They say Barnes is a convicted felon who is known to carry firearms.
After the officer found the weapon and he was trying to control it, they say Barnes managed to run off. A canine search of the area turned up nothing.
Police say they consider Barnes dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts should call the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4315. Pitt-Greenville CrimeStoppers will pay a reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Their number is 252-758-7777.
