A minor traffic crash in Carteret County leads to drug charges for two teenagers.
Alexander Martin, 17-years-old of Beaufort, and 19-year-old James Sherwood Reeves the third of Morehead City are charged following the crash that happened Sunday on Live Oak Street in Beaufort.
Police say during the investigation they smelled marijuana and saw some on the front passenger seat. During a search of the vehicle officers found a shaving cream can with a bottom that unscrewed and the can contained marijuana.
Officers also found a backpack in the vehicle containing more marijuana, plastic baggies, digital scales, rolling papers and other paraphernalia.
Police say they also found two small stamp bags in Reeves' shoe. The bags contained a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine.
