Rocky Mount police continue to investigate a series of robberies at local businesses, four which happened last week.
The latest happened Friday afternoon at the City Dollar Store on South Church Street. In all four holdups the man came in and first asked for cigarettes, showed a gun and then robbed the business.
Monday police release a photos taken from surveillance video from two another robberies, one at L&L Food Store on Sunset Avenue and another at Griffin’s Food Store on West Mount Drive. Police say they're looking at whether these multiple robberies are connected.

The Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating a series of robberies that are similar although as of Saturday night police have not said they are connected.
Friday afternoon saw a man come in the City Dollar store on South Church Street and roam around the store for about 20 minutes according to clerk Tracy Joyner.
Joyner tells WITN, "I pulled the Newports down. I was going to hand them to him. He was like, 'on second thought let me get Newport 100's.' "
Joyner goes on to say," I was like OK. I go to grab the 100's he said, 'this is a stick up and give me all the money.' "
The man made off with over 750 dollars in cash according to Joyner.
This latest incident is very similar to three other robberies that have happened in Rocky Mount since November 24th.
In each case a man came into the store and asked for cigarettes then showed and gun and demanded money.

11-24-09 @ 2341 hours
2558 Hunter Hill Rd. - L & L Food Store
Suspect: An unknown light skinned black male, approximate age range of 18-22 years old, 5'07" in height, wearing a black hat, long sleeve red sweatshirt, blue jeans, and had white tape wrapped around his wrist
An unknown suspect entered the store and asked the clerk for a pack of Newport Cigarettes.
The clerk asked for identification and the suspect advised the clerk to give him money. The clerk gave the suspect money. The clerk stated that the suspect indicated that he had a weapon although he never pointed it at anyone.
The clerk further stated that she could see the butt of the black weapon in the suspects front pocket. The suspect then left the store on foot headed south. A K-9 track was conducted and a black hat was located in the parking lot of Paris Barbecue. There were no injuries reported.

1530 Benvenue Road -Griffins Food Mart
Suspect: Unknown black male, Ht. 5'2", Wt. 165, light skin, last seen wearing a black hoodie
Investigation revealed that an unknown black male entered Griffins Food Mart and asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes. The suspect then pulled up his shirt revealing a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the clerk.
The clerk gave the suspect cash from the register. The suspect fled the store on foot from the store. A canine unit conducted a track from the rear of the store to the 100 block of Dare Court.

1209 Goldrock Road - Goldrock Food Mart
Suspect: Light complexion black male, 18 or 19 years old, ht. 5’7”, wt.145, described as wearing a baseball cap, white shirt and blue jeans
Investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. The suspect pulled up his shirt and the clerk observed a weapon. The suspect demand money and the clerk handed him cash. The suspect left the store on foot in an unknown direction.

1428 South Church Street - City Dollar
Suspect: Black male described as 18-23 years of age, 5’4” tall and 130 lbs. wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans
An unknown suspect entered City Dollar and asked the clerk for a pack of Newport cigarettes. The suspect then demanded money and he pulled a gun from his waist band.
The clerk believed that the weapon was a 9mm, but the suspect did not point it at her. The clerk gave the suspect money and he fled on foot from the store. A canine track was conducted, however, the suspect was not located.

A man walked into the City Dollar store on South Church Street in Rocky Mount Friday afternoon only asking for a pack of cigarettes.
But the situation quickly changed as police say the man pulled what they believe was a 9mm from his waist band.
Police say the suspect did not point the weapon at the clerk but did demand money.
The suspect took off with the cash and police dispatched a canine to follow the trail but came up empty.

Two similar robberies happened on Wednesday and Thursday.
The first took place at the L&L Food Store off of Hunter Hill road and the second happened on Friday at the Goldrock Food Mart on Goldrock road.
Both incidents involved a man asking for cigarette and then showing a gun.
The Rocky Mount Police Department is not saying whether or not the incidents are related.
