Robber Holds Up Store On Thanksgiving Day

Police are still searching for an armed robber who held up a convenience store Thanksgiving afternoon.

The Goldrock Food Mart on Goldrock Road in Rocky Mount was robbed around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the robber came into the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. He pulled up his shirt and the clerk saw a weapon. The robber left with cash from the register.

A similar robbery happened the day before at another Rocky Mount convenience store and police say they're investigating whether the two are connected.

The robber in Thursday's hold-up is described as a black man with light complexion, 18 or 19 years old, 5'7" tall, weighs 145 pounds, wearing a baseball cap, white shirt and blue jeans.

Last month, at the same store, a gunman tried to rob employees as they were closing. The gunman never said anything and employees jumped in their car and took off.
