Teen Charged With Bringing Weapons To School

A teen from Farmville was arrested Monday, after deputies say they found two weapons in his vehicle, which was parked at a school.

Matthew Warren has a January 6th court date on two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Halifax County deputies say they received complaints that weapons might be on the school grounds at Hobgood Academy. A deputy's K-9 indicated on a vehicle in the school's parking lot. Inside the 16 year old's vehicle they found a knife and a shotgun in the trunk.

Deputies remind parents and children that hunt it is unlawful to take any kind of weapon onto school property, even if it was by mistake.

There's another side to every story so if you don't personally know him, who are you to judge?

Lord help us all. It isn't just one town, the whole world needs an enema! Why do people have to be so mean? Remember God's wrath when you throw sticks and stones out.

OH, please just get over the private school issue why don't you people. This is a matter of injustice and if you haven't attended that school or know the real issue at hand, please keep your ignorant mouth closed.

Quit taking up for him. He broke the law. Private school or not. Lots of kids like to hunt; however, they know the law about guns on a campus. If this was a poor kid in a public school, people would want him hanged!

If the dogs sniffed drugs, why were none found and why did the dog not react the first time he went around the car. HAHA, maybe you should know a little more about what actually went on before you make a stupid post. Actually these dogs can take cues from their handler. there are several things with this arrest that stink to high heaven and maybe we need to wait and find out the outcome. If he is found not guilty, I hope that all of you that want him to be hung out to dry will right back and apologize.

If drugs is the issue here, then tell us what happened to the student that they found on that first visit with traces of marijuania in his vehicle. EB? Is this kid still in school? Where is all the write up about this one? Did he get charged? Hate to call things out, but sometimes it is necessary.

First of all none of the post on here are correct about how the situation come about. Mr. Whitehurst (headmaster) requested for the K-9 officers and dogs come search the school on that friday for the first time. The second day that the K-9 come was totally by surprise. And if any of you knew any thing about a K-9 dog you would know they do not sniff for guns, they search for DRUGS. And the reason Mr. Warrens car was searched was due to the dog having a hit or scent of drugs coming from matts car. That then entitles the officers to search the vehicle revealing the gun. And i know for a fact three other students that had guns in their vehicles and they did not get found by the dogs because the dogs didt alert on their vehicle for drugs. So think about that and reconsider how you see Mr. Warren, a poor kid or a drug user that has a gun at school!!!
