Prosecution Wraps Up Testimony In Murder Trial Against Former Marine

The state has wrapped up its case against a former Camp Lejeune Marine on trial for the murder of a Harlowe man.

Day three of witness testimony ended with the prosecution resting at around 5:00 pm Friday.

Authorities say Gary Hayes shot and killed Odell Foster in April of 2008 outside the Bayside restaurant in Havelock.

The defense is expected to start calling witnesses Monday morning.

Hayes is expected to testify that he pulled the trigger but acted only in self defense.

The trial could be in the hands of the jury by mid week.
