DEPUTIES: Woman & Friend Steal From Grandpa

A woman and a friend are both in jail after deputies say the two stole from the woman's grandparents while she was house sitting for them.

Laura Horne and Alexander Talbot, both of Newport, were arrested Sunday night on larceny charges.

Carteret County deputies say the two left, taking with them grandpa's .40 caliber handgun and a flat screen television.

Both items have since been recovered. Talbot, who initially bonded out of jail, was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of stolen property. Deputies say they found him in possession with the handgun after his initial release from jail.

Kinda sad that this story doesn't mention the other girls involved or what actually happened at all. Just goes to show how the media lies about things. The truth will come out in court and everything will be fine.

After looking at the pictures it always amazes me that these young people are so seriously in trouble at such a tender age. And, to top it off, already a felon to boot. This is really bad for the young man found to be in possession of a weapon and an ex-felon. Possession of stolen property is one thing but the big felony will be the weapon. He can probably kiss his young butt goodbye for several (15 minimum) years. The young lady is no saint either. Reminds me of Bonnie and Clyde. This is so sad for the parents. To be sure their hearts are being torn apart - unless this has been the norm and these two are habitual trouble makers in which case they need some hard time. Let us hope they will turn their lives around and become productive members of society. I'm just thankful that no-one was shot as there is no telling what they were cooking up for later. This gun off the street probably saved a life or two.

How stupid can you be, BUT Bill I can't see how you know he took advantage of a young impressionable girl? If memory serves me right most guys are controlled by the girls! They stole from HER grandparents, but I see where his having a prior record might play into it! Both losers! Way to go grandpa!!!

There is a BIG difference from being naive and stupid. She is stupid.

I wonder how old she is. She seems to be very naive thinking she would not be caught. I think this guy has taken advantage of her. He had the gun, probably had the t.v. too. In any case, I hope she learns a little character traits and doesn't associate with people like this. Young girls are very impressionable. I hope her Grandparents can forgive her and make this a life changing experience for her.

Grandpa: hard thing to do, but you did the right thing. Hopefully your grandchild will learn from this.
