A jury has convicted a Michigan teenager of first-degree felony murder in the fatal beating of a homeless man.
The Oakland County jury reached the verdict against Dontez Tillman on Wednesday morning after beginning deliberations Tuesday.
The 15-year-old from Pontiac was charged in the death of 61-year-old Wilford Hamilton, a homeless man who prosecutors say was beaten by a group of teenagers in August 2008.
The charge carries a sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole. Sentencing was set for Nov. 13.
Tillman hung his head and wiped away tears as he was shackled and led from the courtroom.
A separate jury on Tuesday convicted 15-year-old Thomas McCloud of first-degree felony murder in Hamilton's death and that of another homeless man.
