A North Carolina woman is accused by authorities of severely abusing two of her three children, including refusing to feed her mentally handicapped 12-year-old daughter.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Wednesday that the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said 32-year-old Tamika Sawyer chained her refrigerator and refused to feed her daughter and a 10-year-old son.
Warrants say Sawyer punished the two by choking them, causing her daughter to pass out. Investigators say the children told them they were also threatened with a shotgun.
Sawyer faces charges that include four counts of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12, four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and two counts of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.
