Fourteen pounds of pot, worth $42,000...that's what deputies say they found this week in a Beaufort County home.
Charged with various drug offenses were Jeremiah Allender, Rita Allender and Joel Blanks.
Deputies say Jeremiah Allender and Blanks were stopped by a state trooper. They say Allender ran, grabbing an arm full of marijuana plants in the process.
Authorities then searched Allender's home, which was only about a mile away on Highway 92 East in Washington, and say they found marijuana plants on the property.
Blanks was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jeremiah Allender was charged with trafficking in marijuana by possession, trafficking in marijuana by manufacturing, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer. Rita Allender was charged with trafficking in marijuana by possession, trafficking in marijuana by manufacturing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
