Clerk Hurt, Window Shot Out In Rocky Mount Robbery Attempt

A clerk was hurt when three men, one of them who fired a gun through a window, tried to rob a store early Thursday morning.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m. at the Kangaroo Convenience Mart on Wesleyan Boulevard in Rocky Mount.

Police say the 60-year-old clerk was not shot, but was struck in the head with the gun.

They tell WITN the three robbers tried to get the clerk to open the cash register, but he couldn't because of his injuries.

The robbers took off. A K-9 team was called in but could not track them. The clerk was treated at the hospital and released.
