DEPUTIES: Break-In Suspect Nabbed By Homeowner

Authorities say a homeowner caught a burglar in the act and kept him there until deputies could arrive to make the arrest.

Wayne County deputies have charged Lorenzo Martinez, Jr. with three counts of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

Deputies say they were called Friday morning to a home burglar alarm on Piney Grove Church Road. When they got there they found the homeowner who had already detained the suspect.

The 19-year-old had numerous items with him that deputies say were stolen from another home in the area. Later they were able to connect the man to at least three more break-ins in the area where $7650 worth of electronic equipment, cameras, cash and computers were taken.

Deputies say in one case, Martinez tried to break into the same home twice in the same week.

His bond was set at $20,000.

@Anonymous ......... If you had of done as you say you would be in jail now. NC law only allows the use of deadly force if you are in fear for your life. So shooting to wound someone is a surefire way to get yourself 3 hots and a cot along side the criminals. Hopefully getting to stare down the barrel of a gun will mean that after he gets out of jail(we can hope he gets jail time and not probation)he will think twice before doing this again.
