March Against Domestic Violence

A group of people in Greenville marched down Evans street to the Pitt County Courthouse Thursday night to honor those who have died in domestic violence cases.

Sherri Horner with the North Carolina Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma--one of six organizations who helped coordinate the event, says 54 people have been killed in North Carolina related to domestic violence since January.

October is domestic violence awareness month and Horner says the march is designed to send a strong message throughout the community that such violence needs to stop.

Just this year alone--Pitt County has had two homicides related to domestic violence.
