There's been one arrest in the shooting and attempted armed robbery at a store in Halifax County.
Deputies say Quante Scott removed a firearm from the scene of Monday's shooting and refused to cooperate with authorities in finding the weapon, which was later found.
The shooting happened at the Green Store on Highway 48 outside of Roanoke Rapids Monday afternoon. The victim told deputies he was in his car when a gunman jumped out of a gray Honda, demanded money and then shot the man in the leg.
Deputies are still looking for the gunman.
The 30-year-old Scott was jailed on a $50,000 bond on charges of accessory after the fact of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, accessory after the fact to attempted armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resist, delay and obstruct law enforcement officers.
