Rocky Mount police say they continue to investigate a stabbing late Saturday night after a person arrested was released by a magistrate.

Police were called to apartments at 4625 Sunset Avenue for a domestic disturbance. There they found Daniel Hopkins had been stabbed in the stomach.

Hopkins told police he was partying all night and didn't know when or where he was stabbed. Police say the victim wouldn't answer questions and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

They arrested Russhawn Fields, the victim's girlfriend and charged her with domestic violence/assault with a deadly weapon. But a magistrate found no probable cause and Fields was later released.

Police say their investigation into the stabbing of Hopkins continues.
