What kind of a justice system do we have? If she had killed him w/ a gun, would she have received more than 3 years? Murder is murder, no matter how the crime was committed. I say that the justice system is definitely more advantageous for female criminals vs. male criminals.

This young lady looks like she has taken all she could take. Some times you are so afraid of someone from abuse for so long you do what you can to get them away from you. Been there had enough sense to know killing him want the answer, but I sure wanted to a lot of times. Still don't make it right.

On a final note, if she wanted out of the relationship, she should have driven in the other direction and avoided the conflict. If your lover mistreats you or does you wrong, revenge is not the answer. Look forward and move on. Don't run them down. Don't "teach them a lesson." Don't burn their house down. Don't try to make their life miserable. Just walk away. It's not worth it.

you're right anonymous he could have been... almost positive that if that were the case it would have been reported that way, what a sensational story that would be? Still doesn't change the fact that what she did was wrong and the punishment isn't stern enough.

No one knows what that was all about. He could have been a real monster to her. He may be so evil and abusive that he had it coming but you can't take the law into your own hands. Maybe she did think about it. Maybe it was worth it to her. No one knows but her.

Physical abuse is not only perpetrated by a man. Women are guilty of it as well & OFTEN TIMES they get away with it.

why would anyone think twice about not doing things like this if they only get punished by being sentenced to 3 years in jail??? With good behavior she can get out in what... 1.5 years?? If it were my family that had been murdered I'd be highly upset by this sentencing. Would probably go get in my car and run her down the way she did him. No wonder people do the things they do today, there's not stern enough consequences...how sad. Sending prayers to this mans family, I can't imagine how disturbed they are by this.

The look on her face says, "I'll do it again." After three weeks of prison, she'll wish she had drove away.

I wonder what in the world he did that would make her want to do this? No matter what it was, she only punished herself. I wish people would really think what the consequences might be before they act. Save her life, the boyfriends and the tax payers money.

3 years??? Are you kidding me??? It's murder any way you look at it. Perhaps she just "intended" to hurt him really bad? The man is dead! I guess I just don't understand NC laws. I wasn't born and raised here but I do have common sense and this makes no sense! Will she get out for good behavior?? I agree with Jeff - call me Jeff and I'll come with you when you rob the bank and we'll split the money but it was your idea so I won't get as much time as you - I should be out in a few weeks. :) What a sad system!
