Authorities Continue Search For Juvenile Offender

Authorities are still searching for a teen who failed to return to a state facility in Kinston.

The Department of Juvenile Justice is only identifying the juvenile as "Demetrice H." and that he is from Cumberland County.

The state agency says due to the unpredictability of the teen during an escape, they have a high degree of concern for the safety of both the juvenile and the public.

Demetric H. was last seen at the Kinston Plaza Shopping Center Wednesday afternoon and failed to return to the Lenoir Youth Development Center after a four hour off-campus visit.

Juvenile Justice says local authorities are helping in the search for the teen.

OK, first off, what was this hoodlum doing at the mall in the first place; not counting being there unsupervised. Second, these juvenile offenders need not to be coddled, tell their complete names give them tough sentences and make them not want to do bad things again.

Does this thug really deserve to have his name in quotations, like he is actually important?

That is the problem right there. I am african american my self. The law is to easy with these young black men that go out and do stupid stuff and leave on the run! Like I have always said if he go out and hurt someone of importance daughter he will get real time then. If he keeps doing stuff in his own neighborhood, they will continue to let me get away with stuff. Nice looking young man but its said what our young black boys are doing to themselves. Then our first words are the "white man dont want us around"! I dont want you around my kids either!!

You tell the public that they are in danger? Why was he out of juvenile detention on a little field trip folks? Whos bright idea was that?! If he hurts someone are they going to take responsibility for it?

Why would the youth center schedule an off campus visit?I would say this young man already had a game plan.Maybe when he is caught they will put him behind some real bars.
