WITN has learned that Pitt County ABC Law Enforcement Officer Robert Daugherty has been placed on administrative paid leave.

Chief James Sasser of Pitt County ABC Law Enforcement would not go into detail only saying that the District Attorney's office has asked for an investigation.

Sasser says Daugherty has been on paid leave since August 14th.

Sasser says Daugherty has been employed for the last two years and he is 39 years old.

Sasser was unclear of Daugherty's exact salary saying it is around $47,000 a year.

I too know Robert. I also know his parents very well. As for his son my wife and I love as a grandson. Robert has always been very respectful toward me and my family. Without knowing what went wrong I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Please people don't make this a smear campaign, everyone makes mistakes. His son Justin is a fine young man and I know he loves his Daddy and I know it hurts him deeply. Please be kind for the sake of Roberts family, regardless of who is right or wrong. Bud Faulkner

Rod: Just b/c you enjoy your teaching classes with robet is not a comparison to who he really is......There are many good people our here, and yes, we all make mistakes. And when tht happens, you have to suffer the consequences. Hopefully , he is not guilty. But, you have no idea just b/c you were in class with him.. Yes, we need the law, but the law that follows the Oathes and so forth to be fair! As far as the news, they have not posted anything bad about Robert. Other people have posted their experiences with him just as you have. But the news cast has only posted a small fact that he is under investigation. They have not critized him......Read the comments.....Just remember, there are others that have had dealings with him on a personal as well as business level. So, you can't judge the book by the cover or your classroom experience. The truth will come out in the end for sure. You'll see. There is a big difference in being a good guy in a classroom environment..........

All i have got to say about this situation is that robert is a good man. Its really weird how the public and the news media always publishes all the bad things yall here about law enforcecement. But yall never bring out the good. I dont know what robert did but i know he is a good man. Daughtery was my teacher in school and i will have to say he is one of my favorites. he always made sure he covered all the material so we were ready for our test. And for all of you people that are out there talking bad of him. Just think of the situation this was next time you call the police because you are in the closet cause someone is got a gun trying to rob your house. remeber its the police that rush there to save you not the news media

I Too know Robert Daughtery...unfortantley not on good terms... he harrassed me for years because of personal reasons....the police dept he worked for was friends with my ex husbands father.a very wealthy man...when we seperated i was targeted by Robert and one of his friends both Police officers... this man made me walk down a road with small children... and brought bogus charges against me causing me to loose my license and not be able to get a job and feed my kids... but God took care of me I had him on my side and 2 yrs later still no license ..the story there i was out of town for a week at a Ms North carolina pagaent..the day i returned i was handcuffed and took into custody in front of my child...because this man and his friend said i was driving on wed.. they had no ticket to show and no tag number said they saw me driving and could not stop me because they had someone elso pulled over.. right.. charges were dropped no evidence after ruining my life but i forgive you Robert

The kettle is already black..duh! Public news if for all of our benefit. It's time they get rid of these crooked cops......They are of no justice. '''this happens to be a crook.....Just face it and don't be blinded by him playing that sympathy card. He is a disgrace to our commnity..I think all the comments show that there are obviously plenty of people that do know Robert and see the problem. Family---I'd be getting prepared to raise a child alone....You at least need to know how. He is going down.....

We as a community have the right to know what our public officials are doing for us.. This is public notice....You don't have to stick you nose in it, it is our business. Law enforcement is not always right, as we see! Open your eyes and don't be so sentimental! This guy sets examples for our children....We have a right to voice our opinion. Especially when this is breaking news and you know tht this person has always tried to be above the law! Don't blame others b/c it backfired...It's about time they do away with some of these crooked lawe enforcement officers...
