Former Habitat Director Accused Of Having Sex With Inmate

The one-time director of the Rocky Mount Habitat for Humanity is accused of having sexual activity with a state inmate who was on work release.

William Mcauley was arrested Friday by Rocky Mount police.

Police say the 69-year-old man is accused of two counts of sexual activity by a custodian. The victim was a 29-year-old inmate at the Fountain Correctional Center for Women. The offenses took place on August 8th of last year and April 6th of this year.

Police tell us Mcauley is no longer the director for Habitat for Humanity and that no other employees of the charity were involved in the alleged criminal conduct.

Mccauley's bond was set at $52,000.

I beleave the words rape was reported. But,someone is not bringing that info. out. I don't care if you are, dem. or rep. This is a story that needs, everyone's attention. No matter how young she is. Or,how old he is! Ifit happened to you or one of your loveds ones. Would you not want the whole truth to come out? Or, what emotions it would to you and your loved ones? We need our justices system to handle the same way, as if it happened to anyother person. Even though he is a very popular person there in Rocky Mt. A crime is a crime, no matter who does it! He should be treated just like anyone else would, in this matter! My prayers still go out to her and her family. THERE IS ALOT NOT BEING TOLD IN THIS ORDEAL!!! WHY?? If it would of happened to anyone else w/out pole in the community. You would be facing aloyt more charges, then what he was charged with!! AS far as your comment William, there's a difference in association with criminals and braking the law and making them have sex w/you.

At 69 years of age, he probably won't doing a whole lot of nothing.

Agreed Sunshine. If everybody who had any association with criminals, by proxy of any kind, were lambasted for their acquaintances there would be nobody left with clean hands. Which may be getting close now that I think about it. And on the subject, "Remarkable Rocky Mount" is remarkable in at least one area; the incredibly escalating crime rate. Keep up the good work RM.

Why bring in the name of Habitat for Humanity's name into this story??? He wasn't working for them. It gives Habitat a bad name. Why does the media seek sensationalism and not care who they hurt? Such a shame. If the man did the crime, fine, report it, but keep innocent names out of it.

Why is it that no matter what people do it turns into a political thing. Democrates nor Republicans are responsible for this man actions. And it certainly is not President Obama fault. Please people get real. Stop pointing fingers. As for the accused, he is an adult and so was the inmate but rules are rules and if he knew that it was strictly against policy then he should not have done it. But I don't see it as a crime. He just needed to be fired and thats the end of the story.

Well, if you break the law, you must face the consequences. But yeah, thank God he didn't mess with any kids.
