A Jacksonville jury has found a man guilty of killing a South Carolina construction worker.
The jury took about three hours over the past two days to find Lawrence Dowsing guilty of second degree murder.
Dowsing was accused in March 1st, 2008 murder of William Palmer. Police believe Palmer was killed after an alleged drug deal.
A judge sentenced Dowsing to serve between 28 and 35 years in prison.
The murder trial of a Jacksonville man accused of shooting a South Carolina construction worker started Tuesday afternoon in Onslow County.
Lawrence Dowsing, 25 years-old, is charged with first degree murder and robbery in the death of William Palmer.
Palmer was in the area with a group of other workers when he met with Dowsing in the early morning hours of March 1st, 2008.
Police say they found Palmers body slumped over in the cab of his work truck on a dead end road. They found a gun next to his body. Police believe Palmer was killed after an alleged drug deal.
Autopsy reports show Palmer died from a gunshot wound to the side.
The trial is expected to last through the week.
