NEW INFO: Bodies Of 16-Year-Old Girl & Man Found In Cemetery

Police in one Eastern Carolina town are investigating the discovery of a dead 16-year-old girl and a man in a cemetery.

Mount Olive police say the bodies were found Sunday afternoon in the Carver Memorial Park. They say 16-year-old Martavia Royster and 29-year-old Tiqko King were in a relationship. Both people were from Mount Olive.

Relatives of the 16-year-old told WITN News they have no idea who would want to harm the girl. They say Royster had just moved to Mount Olive two months ago from Hampton, Virginia.

"I just can't believe that this really happened like to me. It's really hard to believe. We still all curious about why somebody would want to do this to her," said Rykidevonna Smith, the victim's sister.

Police say physical evidence leads them to believe no one else was involved in the two people's deaths. They are awaiting toxicology tests and autopsy results and say their investigation remains open.

The bodies were found when a person went to visit a relative's grave at the cemetery. Police tell us the two bodies were found about 200 feet apart.

Authorities say the discovery of the two bodies is not connected to an alleged sexual assault that happened in the same cemetery Friday night.

Martavia Royster, I will always remember you! In my class, you would sit close to my desk to harrass me with your quick wit and sparkling eyes! I always looked forward to you being there! But, now, I have found out you were murdered! That saddens me so much! How can people be so cruel? I am still in shock! I will miss you, Martavia, and I will always keep you in my heart!!!!! My prayers go out to the family!

I am Tiqko Kings cousin and Im so sorry what happened to your friend and family member. I know how it feels to have someone so close to you taken away. My prayers go out to the family of this beautiful young lady. I also am hurting a whole lot for the lost of my family member. He was a good person. He had a future as well. He had a family that loves him also.. I will be the first to say that this has conspiracy written all over it.. I dont know anyone that can shoot themselves in the chest 3 times.. I dont no why people cant see that. The police need to get off their asses and find the real killer. This wasnt a murder and suicide, this was a double homicide. I know we are all hurt and have a right to be, but please look at the facts. There is a murderer on the loose. Both families lost a wonderful soul. If anyone knows any info about the real "TRUTH", Please step up and contact the authority's. If you scared, nervous, or dont wanna be a snitch then you are wrong... 1 LOVE 2 All.. RIP

Riki & Marti were my adopted godchildren. Their mom and I were like sisters. I had not seen or heard from either of them in several years and to make contact w/ them as a result of this tragedy is more than I can bear. "Marti" was a beautiful child with loads of potential. She was smart and very tenacious. I can't believe the life I envisioned she would eventually lead, was cut so short. Marti had the potential to be an entrepreneur, attorney, etc..What in the world happened?!! I am brought to tears to know she's gone. I will love her forever and will always remember her as a child who would wrap her little body around my legs to make me take her with me when I would leave!LOL! Marti-I pray the opportunity to know the Lord met you before your untimely passing and pray the precious peace of God, which passes all understand will guard the heart and mind of your mother, sisters & family during this difficult time. Love Always, Aunt Lene

Young people please let this be a lessen to you all. I tell my kids what momma told me, "you are not the biggest or the baddest." I'm right here in the O and I hear about Bloods & Crips and I just laugh. Life is precious, enjoy your youth and let "grown folk" take care of "grown folk" business. What I'm really trying to say these bullets from these guns are the biggest and baddest without saying a word and they often leave you speechless and in this case lifeless. To the families, that I know well, I am truly sorry for your lost. But there is something to be gained here, trust me. Tiqko and Martavia's short lives weren't in vain.
