Serial Bank Robbery Suspect Wants To Return To Face Charges

A man suspected of robbing 14 banks in six states, including one here in Eastern Carolina, told a federal judge he wants to get back to Tennessee to face charges of robbing two banks.

Chad Schaffner, 37, appeared in federal court Monday, two days after he was arrested at a motel about 30 miles northeast of the Missouri Capitol. A former Missouri Highway Patrol trooper recognized Schaffner at a restaurant in Kingdom City after seeing his picture on a news report about a bank robbery in Illinois.

Schaffner is a suspect in July 15th's robbery at the Southern Bank on Queen Street in Edenton.

In a 10-minute hearing, Schaffner said he has no attorney and cannot afford one. He waived the right to a hearing to verify his identity. Asked by reporters how he felt about being caught, Schaffner only shrugged his shoulders.

Schaffner is also suspected of robbing banks in Indiana, Kentucky and North and South Carolina.

Come on guys. Last sentence...or maybe it's the next to last sentence. Unfortunately, I can't read the full article from here. Maybe that's another problem we should fix.
