Robbers Dig Into Pet Store, Steal Safe & Dog

Police are trying to figure out who dug their way into a Havelock pet store, after first breaking into a church that's next door.

Billy Gent of Bills Pet Shop tells WITN that someone dug through the walls of New Commission Fellowship Church and into the pet store that's located along Highway 70.

It happened Sunday morning.

The businesses are side by side in a strip mall. Gent says the robbers knocked over several birdcages and that they stole a safe, a pet schnauzer, and flea medication.

No word on how much money was in the safe or how much damage was done.

It's a shame Gina never put a security system in her store.
