Fake cops appear to be targeting Hispanics in home invasions that are occurring in one Eastern Carolina county.
They're happening in the Dudley area of Wayne County. The latest happened on Saturday.
Deputies say in all of the cases, at least five men force their way into the homes, assault and rob the victims. The gunmen displayed law enforcement insignias and represented themselves as cops. All the the victims have been of Hispanic descent.
The first home invasion happened on August 10th on Eagles Nest Rd., the second on August 25th on Holloman Lane, and the third on September 5th on Gold Park Drive.
Deputies say it is possible that more of these attacks have gone unreported to authorities.
