Man Convicted In Rape Of Elderly, Disabled Woman

A man charged with raping a disabled 67 year-old woman after breaking into her house, has been found guilty and is headed to prison.

A Duplin County jury found 25 year-old Alexander Newkirk of Chinquapin guilty of second degree rape and first degree burglary.

Newkirk was sentenced to up to 24 years.

Prosecutors say Newkirk broke into the woman's home in March of 2008. She was disabled from a fall.

DNA evidence linked Newkirk to the scene.

why don't they just put him in a psycho ward like they do the rich white folks? they let them go after psycho treatment & they commit the same crimes over & over.

Nuff, I guess 12 people saw enough evidence to convict him, but you stand by him and keep thinking he was convicted due to lies. That is what every convict says "da lied on me", "I ain't did nothing"! He's lucky he didn't run up on the right people in Duplin Co. or there probably would not have been a trial! Did you mean it was a begining or begging? What a worthless human being (I will not call him an animal, as I don't wish to give animals a bad name).

We (the law abiding tax payers) should not have to support this scum in prison. The system should take from his family; garnish paychecks, welfare, food stamps and housing allowances to support him in jail. Many of this criminal type have no problem with prison life; it’s much easier than working and paying taxes. I personally feel a bullet is much cheaper, faster and keeps this type from propagating more scum.
