The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office animal enforcement division reports it has arrested the breeder of the puppy mill located on Lloyd Rd. in Wilson County last week.
The breeder arrested is Ranna Michelle Scott, age 38, of 5559 Lloyd Road in Wilson County.
She has been charged with 13 counts of felony cruelty to animals and has been placed in Wilson County jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
Lawmen say the investigation is still ongoing. They ask anyone with information concerning this breeder or the location of any of the animals to please contact the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Division at 252-265-5971.
Only two dogs of the 181 seized are still in Wilson County, they are in isolation because of behavioral problems.
Animal Control says because there were so many dogs they had to set up a facility at the Wilson County Fairgrounds where Humane Society workers and volunteers worked to evaluate and treat them, before they were sent to other shelters.
Dr. Steven walker says many of the animals had ant bites, excessive flees, ticks, and a various number of other medical problems.
He says they were living in terrible conditions.
Police say they are not going to release the name of the breeder until Thursday morning.
And they can't release video of the dogs until the case is closed.
