In the summer of 1991, 27 year old Onslow County resident Judy Kellum Williams was bludgeoned to death by her husband, then laid down on a bed, and set on fire.

The man behind the murder: Her husband Jolly James Williams.

Williams pleaded guilty to her murder in 1991 and has served 19 years of a life sentence behind bars.

But the State Parole Board recently informed the family that this killer could soon be freed.

Now Judy's family and the Onslow County District Attorneys Office, are writing letters to the parole board, pleading their case as to why this murderer should remain behind bars.

Jolly James Williams is currently locked up at the Duplin Correctional Center.

Because his sentence was strictly life in prison and didn't specify parole terms he's eligible for parole each year.

The family says they may know in 30 days if he will be released.
