FIRST ON WITN: Martin County Man Indicted For Wife's Murder

A grand jury has indicted a Martin County man for the murder of his wife.

District Attorney Seth Edwards says Albert Gurkin, Sr. will face an open count of murder.

The indictment means the grand jury heard sufficient evidence to believe he committed the crime.

Gurkin told authorities that his wife, Jewell, disappeared May 13th after he woke up and she was gone.

Searchers found her body, buried just a half of a mile from her home. The medical examiner says she was strangled to death.

Albert Gurkin's next court date is September 10th.

My feelings are so mixed upon this issue...Was he provoked, who knows....I am just as mixed up as Jewel's great-grandchildren.......After Gurkin supported her and her whole family I kinda feel sympathy for him although it was totally wrong, but then again he has not been convicted yet.

To "We'll See" Justice was served to Grant he pulled every day he was given by the State of NC and not RELEASED a day early so yes Justice was served! What you need to do is keep your comments about Grant to yourself and off this computer before you find yourself in a court trial!!!! Yes it can happen I already know so I suggest there be no more comments up here after today!!! Let's see how you feel after this outcome also!!!

I've been expecting something like this from Mr. Gurkin for a long time. I'm surprised he hasn't killed someone sooner.
