This is why I ride with my doors locked and my windows rolled all the way up regardless of where I am! Idol minds have too much time!

To expound on the topic a bit..I can't say enough about being aware of your surroundings. If you can catch the warning signs of an impending assault/robbery,you can leave the area. There's also a lot to be said for staying out of "bad" parts of town. You can't lose the fight that never happens! Also, the legal concealed weapon carrier is also well served with at least one reload, a small, powerful, tactical flashlight, a good folding knife, and pepper spray. I mention pepper spray because most self-defense situations don't require deadly force. If all you carry is a firearm, you might be tempted to use it when it's not really warranted. To quote Abraham Maslow: "If your only tool is a hammer, pretty soon every problem begins to look like a nail." Further food for thought, for what it's worth.

This is why we have CCW laws. The solution to robbery is a dead robber. Some might point out that these worthless punks were'nt armed, but the law traditionally recognizes that a woman confronted by a man is at a serious physical disadvantage. The lawfully concealed firearm puts the woman at absolute parity with her male attacker and levels the playing field. The typical mugger is an opportunist. He wants his victims to be weak and unaware. If he is just starting his attack and suddenly gets a 230 grain jacketed hollow point through his midsection, his day will be just ruined. But remember, a gun is useless without the knowledge and skill to use it properly [and the knowledge of when it can and can't be legally used]. So, to Rocky Mount Mother:Get the most powerful gun you can accurately and comfortably shoot. Get competent training. Read up on self-defense laws. Always be aware of your surroundings..AND PRACTICE AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH! Good luck.

I've never wanted a gun in my home, but I'm starting to think about getting one and permit to carry it with me.

Would it be inappropriate for a couple of my buddies from the shooting range and I to go over there and ride around this intersection with two twenties taped to the windshield at 4 in the morning?
