Juvie Jail For NYC Girl Who Put Kitten In Oven

A 14-year-old has pleaded guilty to burglary and animal cruelty for killing a kitten in a 500-degree oven.

The New York City Law Department says the girl will spend 18 months in juvenile jail for the May 6 death of the kitten, named Tiger Lily.

Authorities say she and a friend ransacked a Bronx apartment before putting the animal in the oven, where it cried and scratched before dying.

The friend, 17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry, pleaded guilty last month to animal cruelty and attempted burglary. She is expected to get a year in jail when she's sentenced on Sept. 2.

can someone explain this to me. . .I have seen this week where people can shake their babies to death and get off, starve their babies to death and get off. I like animals but she gets more in punishment than killing a kitten. . .can ANYONE EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON?

While I don't think animal cruelty punishments are strict enough, it is a crying shame that in many cases they are more severe than those for crimes against humans. Good indication of how broken the system is....

Now this is scary... this girl is going to jail for killing a kitten ( am do not get me wrong I am a huge animal lover and she should be punished) but yet a mother can starve her child to death and put him in a suitcase and just get sent to counsling... what does that say about our government

This story makes me physically ill. I hope they both suffer one day like that poor little kitten did. There is a place in hell for people like that.

She will do more time than the lady who starved her child to death. That's a crying shame.

So glad...the demented riff raff is getting sent off. Personally, I don't think it's long enough. If I were the warden, I would make them sit outside ALL DAY long every day in the sweldering sun chained to a bench in winter clothing. That still wouldn't be a fraction as to what that kitten went through.
