A Jacksonville lawyer is accused of alerting court documents. Janet Reed was arrested Monday by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities say the 47-year-old Reed is accused of changing a criminal plea in a speeding case and obstructing justice by changing a plea deal after it was already in place.
District Attorney Dewey Hudson says a prosecutor from New Hanover County will now handle Reed's case. Reed has practiced in North Carolina and Florida for more than ten years but was suspended from the Florida state bar earlier this year.
Reed was vacationing in California last week when the SBI concluded its investigation. She surrendered to authorities Monday. Her bond was set at $1,000.
