Family Of Murder Victim Speaks Out

A family is speaking out about violence that has claimed the life of their loved one.

Brent Sherod is the fourth person murdered in Martin County in the past three months.

Sherod died Friday as he walked down Everette street in Robersonville. His family tells us he had just received his paycheck that day when he was held up at gunpoint, shot and killed.

Sherod's family is distraught his four year-old daughter now is left without a dad. The child's mother, Larkeriya Wiggins says, "She got to grow up without a father, nobody can understand."

Dontae Brown is charged with Sherod's death. His next court date is August 17th.

Very disappointing news. Too bad Dontae didn't make more of life. I remember him growing up and i'm shocked to hear he turn out this way. I knew BJ well and he was cool guy. Hope everyone use this time to reflect on how valuable God given life is and not waste your precious time on sweet nothings.

BJ as I knew him was a nice young man and I had just talked to him about an hour before his life was taken. It hurted my heart when my mother called me and told me that BJ had just been shot and he is dead. My prayers goes out to his family and his little girl Shy.

its a shame Dontae robbed BJ 4 $600 when he knew he was just trying to take care of his daughter. now he thnking it wasn't worth it or he shouldn't have done it. cuz at the end of the day it's still a lost situation because he took a life doesn't have the money and the rest of his life is gone down the drain so now u think about like what did he really accomplish. Da ville is a small town where everyone knows everyone how could he do something like that and think he wasn't gone get caught. that let us know he was a dumb thug he didn't think b4 he reacted. Its a shame but nothing good has came out of it. Good job to everyone who work the investigation. Even though the family will reieve justice we still can;t get our BJ back. i know i'm makin a lot of comments but in situations like this u just can't say enough!!! RIP BJ. Missin U 4eva 1 love

I DID NOT GET THE CHANCE TO KNOW BJ'S DAUGHTER BUT THE WAY HE TALKED OF HER MADE ME FEEL LIKE I KNEW HER.I WANT HER TO KNOW HER DADDY LOVED HER SO MUCH IT BRINGS ME TO TEARS.I USED TO TELL HIM YOU TRULY LOVE YOUR DAUGHTER FOR REAL.HE WOULD CALL AND TELL ME ABOUT HE WAS GOING TO GET HIS DAUGHTER BAPTIZED,WHEN HE WAS BABYSITTING,WHEN HIS GRANDMOTHER WANTED HIM TO HELP OUT WITH SETTING UP FOR A PLAY OR DIFFERENT THINGS.MAYBE ALL HE SAID WASN'T TRUE BUT HE KNEW THAT I KNEW HOW MUCH HE LOVED HIS DAUGHTER SO I COULD NOT FUSS ABOUT NOTHING THAT INVOLVED HIS DAUGHTER.HE ALWAYS WALKED AROUND SHOWING THE PICTURE OF HIS DAUGHTER IN HIS PHONE,I WOULD BE LIKE BJ I ALREADY SEEN IT TWICE TODAY.LOL BUT TO HIS DAUGHTER AND FAMILY HE TRULY LOVED YA'LL SO MUCH AND I LOVE YA'LL FOR LOVING HIM AND CARING FOR HIM ENOUGH FOR HIM TO MEET HIM AND CARE FOR HIM THE WAY I DID AND STILL DO.I AM JUST SO HAPPY THAT I ALWAYS TREATED HIM RIGHT AND ENCOURAGED HIM.LOVE JYNEIKA

My prayer goes out to the family of Brent Sherod to his 4 year old daughter even though her father won't be around you can always tell her how much he loved her and the type of person he was. Even though I didn't know this young man I feel that it was wrong for him to have to die the way he did. And the young man that took his life live in the same town as I do I know his parents not personaly but I know them and I know that they are hurting because of what there son has done. But Beleive that God will work everything out this person will be punished. Keep preying and beleiving in God. And I will continue praying all of you. God Bless.
