La Grange Shooting, Two People Injured

Two people were shot over the weekend in La Grange, the first violent crime since the town lost its police department.

The shooting happened outside the Save Mart Convenience Store on Wooten Street Saturday night after a fight broke out. Lawmen tell us two people were injured and hospitalized, their injuries were non-life threatening.

This is the most serious crime that's happened in La Grange since the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office took over law enforcement. The Police Department was cut to save the town money.

Major Chris Hill with the Sheriff's Department told WITN on Monday he thinks the switch has gone very well and thinks the people of La Grange are happy with the conversion.

THe police that were there didn't accomplish anything for the most part. Kinda makes the lenoir county sheriffs department a perfect fit for a replacement....

I bet the two people who were shot don't think the switch has "gone very well".

MrT: My oh my, the mean streets of La. are getting "as bad as Greenville". Maybe worse, per capita statistically. To quote a great man that will be playing in Durham tomorrow: "How does it feel"? Yes, it feels wrong and callous. Look in the mirror? Prayers to the families in all seriousness.
