Former Chamber Director Indicted

The former director of a local chamber of commerce has been indicted on charges she embezzled thousands of dollars. Jennifer Barr of Cooper St. in Winterville is charged with embezzlement during her time as executive director of the Ayden Chamber of Commerce.

In its list of indictments handed down recently by the grand jury in Pitt County, the Daily Reflector published that Barr was indicted last week. She's accused of taking about $10,000 between May and December of 2008.

The elites in the Holy City of Williamston are above the law Betty. In Martin County, just a few Williamston nobles have had all the power for a long time, they have no interest in giving up even one little bit of it. Family connections will make this a free pass for the culprit. In Williamston, corruption and back room deals are common. People were recruited in back rooms to run for the BOE, running with stated principles that were to be cast aside as soon as elected to vote the way the rich elite wanted on education issues. Do you think people actually voted for these dorks pushing consolidation. Old money, banker boy and stooge brother of banker boy run Martin County. Everybody knows it.

Doesn't WITN have something like WNCT - 9 on your side? Why doesn't WITN investigate a little bit? Maybe they would get the county to start back looking into it. WITN....INVESTIGATE!! Be a voice for the community.

The fix is in on the Martin County Chamber thing. Family connections are strong in the county. You are supposed to shut up and refrain from questioning the elite. This will disappear, whether you try to keep it alive or not.

As I stated before this is the second person working with Ayden Town charged with embezzlement. Just last month they arrested Susan Justensen for embezzlement from Jan.1, 2008-June 30, 2008. Then here comes poor Jennifer Barr May-Dec 2008. Between the two of them a total $13,400 was taken. All I can say is they will look good with a bucket, trash bag, a trash pick, walking down Third & Lee Streets doing community service.

This is what public officials do. Some get caught some do not. From unnecessay trips, to lavish meetings, stealing is stealing from the public anyway you look at it.

That is a good question Betty. I asked about the embezzlement situation at the Martin County Chamber of Commerce by a former director and my comment (question) didn't get posted either. Has this story been dropped or is an investigation ongoing or what?

Will you please tell me why you didn't post my comment from Martin County? I will be checking the site for your reply. Thank you!
