Deputies Find More Than $3 Million In Marijuana

Sheriff's deputies in a coastal North Carolina county have seized more than $3 million worth of marijuana plants.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that officers pulled up nearly 3,000 plants Tuesday in Pasquotank County. Officers say the plants are worth about $3.6 million.

Investigator William Williams says trees had been cut to allow more sun into the quarter-acre plot. He says none of the plants had buds so it appeared they already had been harvested.

Officials say the sheriff's office had received numerous calls about the marijuana field before deputies pulled up the plants.

We spend more tax dollars finding this than we do finding missing kids, what the hell is wrong with the picture here. Obama was suppose to keep his side of the deal, and I think he would if we get more people writing there congressman on this. Take the money from the helicopters, the people you have working on this, and all offices and vehicles and put them to real work finding missing children. Its a shame and needs to change soon,DT

I'm sick of it!!!!!!!!! I like pot. You like beer. Who's correct on this? It's insane. The millions should not need a buffer like medical marijuana to get smoke. The intolerant squares (that enjoy a drink) say they just want medical marijuana to get high. And saying it's medical is an excuse. Well so what. I will never touch crack, coke, or meth. And it's never been gateway drug for me or any of my successful adult friends. I get high once every 2 weeks. Why do I have to have excuses? This whole law is illogical. Why not make donuts and soft drinks illegal? They make you fat and give you diabetes. And everyone knows one donut leads to another. I like pot. So what. Am I a sinner? Have I hurt anyone? Have I stole anything? You like a drink. I like a puff. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Just legalize it, tax it, regulate it. AND END THE CRIME AND VIOLENCE CREATED BY KEEPING IT ILLEGAL! What a bunch of *%*^$& hypocrites!

Correct Mortie, The plants don't bud til the days get shorter, the growers probobly hadn't even pulled the males Or the cops only pulled the males for show and left the females. It's time for them to start showing they're sex, male/female. Why do folks think they will ever legalize pot? Never gonna happen, the states need them federal dollars to pay for the cop trucks and pay the salary of the cops to pull'em up. 3,000 Divided by 3 million, that's a thousand a plant, hardly ever do you get a thousand dollars worth of trimmed bud off of one plant. If Andy and aunt Bee hadn't complained so much, the law probobly would have left them alone. Probobly on the intracostal waterway, maybe it was Blackbeard seen them and complained. Aunt Bee musta seen Them carrying the miracle grow buckets to Them! Sam, usually outdoor growers grow on fed land or tree farms, no police agency is gonna take a single acre of georgia pacific or weyrehauser land. Thinkrealhard, the feds can invade a pentium.III off.

legalize it and we wouldn't have these problems. wasted time and effort on the state's part funding the bust and funding cop's salary. legalize and tax it and their will be billions, not millions but billions of tax dollars pumped into a scared economy. think about the amount of people that die every year from alcohol and prescription pill over dose, now think about the amount of people that die a year from weed over dose...that's right, none!! It would be nice to have another cash crop for hurting farmers. Come on people, alcohol use to be illegal too. I'm just saying...

Somebody is going to do some serious time bet. Also, Pasquotank County is not really a coastal North Carolina County, even though it's in the Coastal Plains. It's not coastal until you get to Currituck or Dare Counties, since they touch the ocean.
