4 Men Charged With Looting Sailboat

Morehead City police have charged 4 men with looting a sailboat in the aftermath of hurricane Irene. Officers say about 3:00 p.m. Tuesday a witness saw 4 young men on a boat on the north side of Sugarloaf Island.

Officers say they arrested Shelton Hales , Justin O'Neal, nd Tyler Umile- all 18-years-old, and 21-year-old Ian Gray and charged all four with felony looting. They are all from Morehead City.

Police arrested two on a small skiff as it docked at the Gulf Dock on Evans Street and a police boat went to the island to arrest the other two.

    They are lucky they were no shot. Folks, when we have a hurricane, looting laws apply during a state of emergency. Parents, you best explain this to jr. This is a serious charge.
