4 Charged In Halifax County Attempted Murder

Three people are behind bars in our state charged with attacking and stabbing a woman more than 20 times and leaving her for dead.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office says the motive was drug related. Timothy Moran, Toni Draper, and Lauren Draper are charged with attempted first degree murder and are being held on $500,000 bonds in Halifax County. Deputies say the victim knew the suspects from Virginia, rode to North Carolina with them, and after a pit stop in Roanoke Rapids, two of the suspects beat and stabbed the woman and left her for dead on the roadside. Authorities say the victim crawled to a nearby home and is recovering well now.

Jerry Draper III is charged with accessory after the fact and is also being held on a half million dollar bond.
