Edgecombe County Sheriff Says Task Force To Probe 5 Killings

An eastern North Carolina sheriff says a task force is looking into the killings of five women whose bodies have been found in his county in the past four years.

Edgecombe County Sheriff James Knight says the five cases of women found since 2005 remain unsolved. The latest discovery was Monday by a farm worker.

Multiple media outlets have reported four of the bodies were found in the northern end of the county.

Knight says the State Bureau of Investigation has been involved in the developing case and the district attorney and Rocky Mount police also have discussed involvement.

The sheriff wouldn't say the cases are related.

Hey B, it's no one's fault but the wonderful Sheriff of Edgecombe County....it has nothing to do with the race of the women, it has to do with the Sheriff not wanting ANY bad publicity, if it means this killer gets away, fine, as long as he gets re-elected. That's why this thing was never pursued before. We need a leader that cares about something other than himself!

You think after 4 years and maybe after the third body was found, if not before. Maybe then would have been a good idea to put a task force together... considering all the women fit the same Profile!!!

this is obviously a serial killer. Is There's alinkage in each death? The seven bridges is a very scary road as it is. Now it's a haven for corpse.

Now they want to have a task force? Give me a break! Nancy Grace, Larry King Live, AMW...where are you guys? Nevermind, I already know the answer to that. It's a freaking shame we are still going through this in 2009. Yeah I'm going to say it, if these women were white, coverage would be taking place out of the wahzoo. I don't even remember hearing word of these women and TEENS going missing to begin with.
