Kathy, don't be fooled by Bob, Martin County, with the exceptions of Bear Grass, Farm Life and Jamesville has become a terrible place. You only hear about the killings, shootings and armed robberies. There are a plethora of other violent crimes such as muggings, strong armed robberies, breaking and enterings, assaults and episodes of school violence that you never hear about. In fact, even the citizens of the county are restricted from hearing about the school violence because the superintendent and BOE do not want the public upset. The good people are moving out of the county in droves leaving less and less law abiding citizens to cope with the lawless thugs. It's not law enforcement's fault, they have good people but few of them and limited resources. It's politicians and overbearing self appointed leaders of the county that are to blame. Steer clear Kathy, especially after dark, residents of the southern and eastern parts of the county stay in our area or Washington in the evenings.

We, as citizens of America, must assist our men in uniform - giving them tips on gun carrying, suspicious activity, etc... They are well out-numbered and we have to do our part. These punks are dangerous enough due to their small mentality...guns make them all the more so - we need to get the guns out of their hands!

Kathy from Washington, I grew up in Williamston in Martin County and I lived in Washington for eight years, and believe me Williamston hasn't seen the amount of crime Washington has. You are just hearing about Martin Co. lately! I remmember as a teenager we were told to stay out of Beaufort Co. and Washington in particular due to all the crime! Oh so you will understand I know what I am talking about Criminal Justice Degree from NCSU and 30 years in law enforcement all over Eastern NC. Both Martin and Beaufort have excellent, knowledgeable law enforcement officers that each Co. can be very very proud of. It hasn't always been that way. Believe me I Know!.

I'm becoming a believer in better gun control. Not the kind you think.... I mean I need to practice a little more so I can control my pistol well enough to hit the target EVERYTIME.

Why is it so hush-hush about what took place at Martin General Hospital a month or so back and same with what has happen about the MC Chamber of Commerce money that was miss upon the new director reporting missing from previous years. No one wants to say anything because they may discrase another person's repertaton. If you did the crime you are able to do the time.Everything is hush-hush, get it out into the open. Martin County is a great place to live, but too much going on not being told to thr public citizens of Martin County. put it in the local news paper or in the court system, for every citizen to read and stop all the hush-hush.

Southern Gentlemen Look at how old that case is and what they had to work with back then. LE officers in Martin County are loaded with cases and we try to work every lead we get. Until you get out there on the front line and work a major case, keep your mouth shut!!
