I also think that Gov. Bev has lost her mind if she thinks she can take away our money and expect the same high quality of work from her D.O.C. employees. Yeah, I see the PERT Team working really hard to catch this guy. Use your noodle Bev, be good to your state employees.

To: Lonnie Location: Edenton. I knew "Pappy" Simmons and I also knew that he was very old with failing health. The old timer always has a cigarette in one hand and an inhaler in the other. He was released because he was no longer considered to be a threat to anyone, and with his failing health the way it was I really can't see the harm in letting him go. Yes, he committed the crime but there is more to justice than black and white law. There is such a thing as wisdom and compassion, if we lose these we lose ourselves. If you want to use someone as an example in that way, look at Anthony Wayne Peterson who got his MAP contract again and will probably be getting out in the next two years.

we don't need more prison guards.we need to let the prisioners work off some of their time helping the elderly keep their grass mowed/their not able.instead of letting them watch tv/lift weights /playbasketball.that is the prisioners who are not up there for killing somebody or raping

Folks if you only knew. EXAMPLE: Pap Simmons. I/M was serving a life sentence for 2nd degree murder and housed at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm a min. custody facility. He was also on HOME LEAVE every weekend. They are so many inmates in min. custody who are serving life and other very long sentences. It is unbelievable. If they escape and come back on their own within 24 hrs they are not even charged with a street escape charge, only a prison infraction. CRAZY>..........

I have to agree with you Ted about him being at a minimum security facility. That is a long time to be behind bars so why wouldn't the criminal try to escape. Leave the minimum security prisons for the petty thieves.

Can we shoot him in the knee caps to stop him. See how far he runs then!?

With a 58 year sentence he should have never been at a minimum custody facility.
