Walter, I understand what you mean, and would be all for that (from a financial standpoint) but there would be so many people protesting that sentence if it was the death penalty. Everyone would be calling for that judge to be removed and most likely the judge would be removed. That's just the way things work under the federal government and it's out of out control unforunately. Some of these politicians up in D.C. and Raleigh are not even any better than these two people up there, due to their greed. The same thing you can say with some of these executives in the United States, especially for the automotive industry. Maybe you should throw the death penalty on people like them just as much as people like those two.

I disagree Sam. The Death Penalty is not used nearly enough. If you don't serve a positive purpose in society, if you can't control yourself, then you should be eliminated. What good is a few years of jail? What are they going to do when they get out? Sit around, watching Maury, text message other losers and collect welfare or go back to selling on the streets. They're not going to get a decent job and be a postive value in our society. They couldn't even get a job scrubbing toilets with their records. Then, our tax dollars go to support them. Whether they get caught or not, these people are costing us money. It's time to stop this problem and eliminate crime such as this, and not with more tax dollar wasting lethal injection either. Just throw them in a cell and let them starve. It's free.

BF "this kind of firepower"? It is a one pull of the trigger one shot, just like a hunting rifle. There are already laws on the books about having any kind of gun on school grounds so what we need are not further laws, but to enforce the ones we have. No one wishes to have any school shootings or any other kind, but if you read my previous comment you would see how many assaultive crimes were and are prevented just by law abbiding citizens showing a gun. go to this site and read about gun myths and you will understand better about guns and laws and what works and does not. version 5.0 I for one wish to protect myself from someone like those pictured. (1) Laws are in place to take an illegal gun, (2) I can not protect myself or you if you take my legal gun (3) criminals will not give up their illegal guns..look at facts from Australia-took all guns, crimes up dramatically. It WAS NOT a machine gun!!!!!AGAIN 1 trigger pull 1 Shot!Media likes drama It was an sks.

So as reported these people were armed with a machine gun? Where are the federal charges for possession of an unregistered machine gun? Why should it matter if school was in or out? I believe the statute does not say if the school has to be in session or not.

Now now Walter, they did not kill anybody or were trying to steal any money from anybody, which means the death penalty is too harsh, but I will agree with a few years in prison or jail, some kind of slammer anyway.

Attack the individual AND what they were doing. I hope to God they push for the death penalty on this.

Its easy to judge someones intelligence and character on one action but no one can look at the facts. He was on school property but the school term ended about two weeks ago. So no he was not selling to any students or endangering them. And to be a adequate seller of narcotics you would have to know a little chemistry and a lot of math ie because there appearance is not complimenting does not make them un intelligent. Yes selling drugs is wrong and to do so on a school property is as well but attack what they were doing and not the individual themselves.

The NRA and supporters of gun ownership rights need to start working with the anti-gun people to prevent slugs like these two from being able to get this kind of firepower at all. Most (if not all) mass shootings are caused by people who should never have gotten a gun. If these two slugs had opened fire at the school, the anti-gun people would be in an excellent position to insist on increased control of guns. Cooperation between the two groups can result in the preservation of the rights of responsible gun owners and the reduction (if not elimination) of the mass shootings we all (including, I'll bet, the pro-gun community) hate.
