The former town employee is facing charges she stole money while on the job.
Susan Justensen is charged with felony embezzlement. Justensen was a customer service representative with the town of Ayden.
Court records say the woman embezzled $3,400 between January 1, 2008 and June 30, 2008.
The State Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into the missing money at town hall.
The town says Justensen worked for them for 18 years. The 48-year-old woman was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Justensen was arrested late last month and has a July 8th court appearance.
